A Surprising SEO Tip that will Boost Your Site's Search Engine Ranking

If their is one thing that Google and humans have in common, it’s the liking of speed. Research suggests that more than 50% of users leave a site if it takes more than 3 seconds to load – that’s a lot of traffic to lose if your site isn’t making the grade. If you have a lot of text, images, videos, animations etc. which create a lot of code to your site, adding an AMP plug-in is a great way to condense this code.

Using WordPress and adding the WP AMP plug-in, all of the content is the same as your original page. However, all the styling has been changed because we are in “classic mode”. On the other hand, in the back end, a lot of the mark up is cut out, and this page will load much faster.

Whilst using AMP for pages does modify the style and design of the site, there are multiple ways to get it close to how your original design displayed. Through the “native” and “paired” modes on the WordPress AMP plug-in for example, you can check your site’s compatibility and make adjustments where necessary. Alternatively, you can select the “classic” mode which is compatible with all themes. This doesn’t just apply to WordPress but also to a range of Content Management Systems across the web.

Once you have activated your AMP pages, your website should be speedier when certain browsers request the AMP version of webpages. I do it on my sites so they're as fast as possible, which can definitely be helpful for user experience, and SEO.
